The motivation behind this post is my sister, whom has declared a great start to something new. As we approach this New Year, leave all your problems, misfortunes and mistakes behind for something so much better is here to come. According to the great Oogway: ‘Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the "present."  A very good one, we humans are too concerned about what was and what will be. I’ve decided to let go of the illusion that l have total control over my destiny. Ok, before l begin counting down to a wonderful and well deserved Christmas break, I’ll try my best to blog as much as possible. We all know Nigeria is not a country were the supply of basic essentials like electricity is anywhere close to par.

So what is or are your New Year resolutions? I love my sister’s new slogan for 2010 - Faith that moves mountains! ...be still and know that I am God. I really love her attitude and sense of direction towards the New Year. Yesterday, l felt a sense of indescribable pleasure, a feeling which mirrored a past experience but nothing yet so perfect. Yup, l think l had an epiphany. Someone, not to close but not to far has become one with God! Let’s just say l felt like a miracle worker. It’s amazing how much you influence people, their decisions and the likes around you.

I don’t mind saying goodbye to 2009, from the start of the year the water (i.e me) was never settled. It was like l was searching for something l wasn’t even sure of. Constantly, searching like l lost a pair of brand new shoes l hadn’t worn. The water slowly coupled with painful experiences and great ones has come to rest. I’m beginning to see the reflection like I’m starring at a mirror. Ever noticed how disturbed water is so unclear, but once settled it becomes even almost transparent. Anywho…. I’m seriously looking forward to completing my e-proposal. Once, I’m done my break begins, l applaud those who work and go to school fulltime. You will definitely reap your blessings in abundance.

Moving on to something new… I heard this crazy story about a Dad who reportedly spanked his sophomore (usually age 13 and up) daughter in front of her class. Yup, nothing new in Nigeria, but this happened in NYC. Violence has never been promoted for as long as l remember, but people were hailing her Dad for a job well done. Apparently, this unfortunate teen was disrespectful to her teachers and disrupting the class. The teacher then sent the father an email reporting the girl, the father responded immediately and told him to let her know if she did it again. The story says that this rude teen was so disrespectful one particular day that the teacher just went over to his desk and emailed the father without any hesitation. Within 30 minutes the father shows up at her school, grabs the girl and literally drags her to the front of the class and spanks her repeatedly.. OMG.. WOW… I wonder if the girl will ever get over that unceremonious introduction to the world.. he he he..  I have a very close friend who teaches kids and l know they drive her crazy… I’m all for making sure a child never repeat the same mistake twice. Now, what’s the probability that girl will behave in such an ungodly manner again? Guess we all know the answer to that….

Another worrisome news l heard… About this random guy whom accidentally ran over two people at Prince’s George’s County located in Maryland. So, yes… how the heck do you run over two people. One and then another. So, the gist of it is that prior to his deathly journey he had drank one of those 5-hour energy drinks coupled with a cup (size not known) of coffee. Studies came back that, the combination badly affected his system and sense of reasoning. Terrible story..

Also, my prayers go out to the Italian Prime Minister (Silvio Berluscon) that was struck in the face at a rally by a small metal souvenir replica of the Dourno di Milano.
