AMBITIONS OF SHORT TERM FORTUNE

It’s human nature to want more, to strive for excellence. However, there is a fine line when ambition of influence, prominence, affluence and the willingness to strive for its attainment becomes detrimental to the society. It always amazes me what people are capable of when pushed to the wall. How sometimes it’s the littlest things that instigate the biggest problem, and how irrelevant issues, hold power over people thereby causing lack of understanding.

I know you’re wondering, what?

I’m talking about Intercontinental Bank’s, Erastus Akingbola, he has decided to sue Mr Sanusi Lamido Sanusi , the Goverenor of the Central Banak of Nigeria (CBN) on his decision. IMAGINE! HE STILL HAS THAT EXTRA CASH TO SPEND!

Just incase you may not have seen the FACTS & FIGURES, be assured I’ll always deliver. The following numbers show how much debt these banks accrued:

  • Oceanic Bank – N278.20 billion

  • Intercontinental Bank – N210.9 billion

  • Afribank – N141.86 billion

  • Union Bank – N73.58 billion

  • Finbank – N42.45 billion

You see I ask myself, what the heck where their auditors results?

The big players; PriceWaterHouseCoopers (PWC) auditors of Intercontinental Bank and Oceanic Bank and Akintola Deloitte (AD) auditors of Afribank, Union Bank and Finbank.

Aren’t these results in short supposed to reflect in detail the accuracy in information? The positive enhancements along with the company’s action plans for improvements? Also, aren’t these final audit reports suppose to be distributed to senior management? Obviously, there is a deeper underlying purpose, which is now being assessed by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Ooopps. Maybe we are not as smart as we thought?

EFCC has detained Okey Nwosu, Sebastian Adigwe and Barth Ebong amongst others on grounds of suspicion of various misdemeanors, including insider trading and fraud. Also, the State Security Services (SSS) stopped Mrs. Cecilia Ibru from traveling out of the country yesterday in her private jet.

With hope and disappointment in our minds last Friday to address this serious liquidity problem a sum of $420 billion was injected to these banks.

  • Intercontinental Bank and Oceanic Bank each got N100 billion

  • Union Bank received N120 billion

  • while Afribank and Finbank each got N50 billion

You’ve got to respect a true advocate, Mr Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, who has pledged that no banks will be allowed to fail.

NIGERIA: A ONE MAN ARMY

You know when I see stories like this, I deliberate on if there is hope in Nigeria.

Yes, we are ranked 15th in the failed states index, please take a look:

http://www.fundforpeace.org/web/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=99&Itemid=140

Nigeria a country that once was considered among the richest nations on Earth. A country where abundant wealth flows like water yet the abolition of extreme suffering is darn right near inevitable. This profuse wealth that is known to a diminutive population circulates ONLY on-top. Oil-rich Nigeria, downsized by political volatility, corruption, inexpert management, poor infrastructure, among so many others that I guarantee you are all well aware of. WE NEED TO PRAY…

Especially after hearing Dangote has been elected (I use that term loosely) as the new NSE President.

O-M-G!!!

What the heck is going to become of our Stock market… are we Nigerians headed for the ultimate sacrifice – death

I mean can there be any more destruction and vice in our system? My answer is NO!

Interesting read…

Enough with the depressing gist. Ok.. so maybe there is hope..

Take a look at why the following people have been appointed as acting CEOs for the Five banks whose MDs were sacked.
1. Mahmud Lai Alabi - Intercontinental Bank Plc.
2. John Aboh - Oceanic Bank Plc.
3. Nebolisa Arah - Afribank Plc
4. Suzzanne Iroche - Finbank
5. Funke Osibodu - Union Bank.

He he he (devilish grin)…

Progress or should I say …. Read sha’ - http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=151586

Anyways… REMEMBER NOTHING IS HIDDEN UNDER THE SUN; IT WILL SURELY COME OUT SOME DAY, SOME HOW.

Take a look at what happened to this foolish husband…. VERY FUNNY

It’s called – “SLIP OF TONGUE”

Consider what you think will happen next after this conversation!

WIFE: "What would you do if I died? Would you get married again?"

HUSBAND:"Definitely not!"

WIFE:"Why not - don't you like being married?"

HUSBAND:"Of course I do."

WIFE: "Then why wouldn't you remarry?"

HUSBAND:"Okay, I'd get married again."

WIFE: "You would? (with a hurtful look on her face)

HUSBAND:(makes audible groan).

WIFE:"Would you live in our house?"

HUSBAND:"Sure, it's a great house."

WIFE:"Would you sleep with her in our bed?"

HUSBAND:"Where else would we sleep?"

WIFE:"Would you let her drive my car?"

HUSBAND:"Probably, it is almost new."

WIFE:"Would you replace my pictures with hers?"

HUSBAND:"That would seem like the proper thing to do."

WIFE:"Would she use my golf clubs?"

HUSBAND:"No, she's left-handed."

WIFE: - - - silence - -

HUSBAND: "Shit."

Until then - "If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything."

A HEALTHY THOUGHT OF THE DAY

My beautiful sisters are always forwarding me exceptional emails that makes me wonder. Among all the forwards I have received, this really kept me in complete awe. I’ll share, of course.

This is definitely worth reading and should be read again.

A true master piece. If you have not read it take the time to read it now. If you have read it take the time to read it again!

GEORGE CARLIN (His wife recently died...)

Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so very appropriate.

A Message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways
,
but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things , but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom.
A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

If you don't send this to at least 8 people....Who cares?
Live a pleasing life to God.

- George Carlin

CYBER FRIENDS

Can someone kindly tell me the purpose of the above networking icons?

OMG ... My sisters and I talk about social networks again and again. However, we have not come to a coherent conclusion as to why the principal of social networking sites are far fetched from the reason it is used today!

Okay, take for instance one of the most notable networking sites today.

Don’t believe me, read these fine articles:

http://knowledge.wharton.upenn.edu/article.cfm?articleid=1463

or;

http://personalweb.about.com/od/easyblogsandwebpages/ss/2007topsnsites.htm

Yes… I am a very proud member of Facebook (www.facebook.com), have been for almost 3 years. Thank you, Mark Zuckerberg no matter how peculiar people say you are – you are another pioneer. Before I go into any details, I want to answer my question.

I’ll say ..

  1. The need to connect
  2. Sharing of opinion
  3. Knowledge enhancement
  4. Niche networking
  5. To maintain an identity

Now … those are the legitimate reasons to become users of these sites. Conversely, over the years it has come to my attention that all people want to do is – taffia (gossip). YES I SAID IT GOSSSIIIPPP… I have over 250 friends but I seem to keep in contact with roughly 20 friends in totality. I noticed that when I accepted certain friend requests and initiated a dialogue I did not get a response. I decided to remove some of these “silent participants”, but noticed they kept adding me as a friend again. Ok…. Taffia… why do I say this… because I do it… YES AND YOU DO TOO.. Abegg oh jare'

For the most part I don’t really have time for facebook, I’m so glad it’s an application on my on my phone unless I would have been ignoring enough people. Would love that, no just kidding :)

Same goes to all those other tools like: MSN, Yahoo!, Skype!, AIM etc

My trouble here is that…

Why add someone you know, when you don’t want to keep in touch.

Why add someone you don’t know, when you really don’t want to keep in touch.

Why accept a friend request, when you really could care less about keeping in touch.

Why suggest a friend to someone else, when you yourself don’t keep in touch.

Ok. I’ll stop. Excuse my rainbow like colors i'm feeling like an artist.

Today, i’ll try not to be a hypocrite and say hello to someone that I haven’t ever spoken to since we became facebook friends… Just a simple “hello” that’s all. Let’s try it... YOU yourself try it...

I want your opinion. Remember mistakes are mine, corrections are yous.

CHOOSING A TITLE ???

Yes .. so that's exactly how i feel.CLUELESS...

I have read SO MANY blogs! Be it personal, corporate, by genre, be media type or by device and blogs in general are becoming mainstream. They draw an amazingly large demographic and are more widely read.

So, OK why the heck did i decided to create a blog? I-have-no-idea. I have become fascinated, impressed and overwhelmingly inspired to create a blog of my own. Please follow me on this journey :)
We can talk about anything hence my blog title.... Let's see where this journey takes us.
