So…. I was reading this very interesting article earlier on today about a woman who went on a job interview that apparently went “~~very well~~”. So the interview started out with – how many siblings do you have (my first thought was - that sounds a little bit unorthodox especially to use to initiate an interview), that question was followed by; what are their current professions, which eventually progressed to the final question, after a series of other peculiar questions “If your siblings were colors what colors would they be and why”. Yes, I know that's an absolute bizarre not to mention impractical question to ask. Anyway, as the interviewer kindly escorted the interviewee out of the building the interviewer commended the interviewee on her intelligent and witty responses to the questions. She then proceeded by assuring her of a call-back and a second interview. Just as the woman was reaching for the door handle to exit the building, the interviewer says “Good-Luck on your search”!

What the hell… what does that even mean… Doesn't that completely shut down the hope of even receiving the complimentary “We regret to inform you that we have …… (you know the rest)”. I whole-heartedly can relate to that experience. Although the story doesn't mention what position she applied for, and if in fact those ambiguous questions actually relate to the position – my guess is it DOES NOT! Let me humor you readers out there with some of the most bizarre questions I have been asked during interviews (this is a combinations of interviews conducted over the phone and face-to-face). I'll list my “Top Ten” questions; keep in mind that my background lies in the realm of Information Technology AND there's a fine line between technical, behavioral, and just “I have to screen X amount of applicants to report to my superior” questions!

Why is it that when you press 2 + 2 into a calculator it equals 4?

If you were in a room with three lamps and in the adjacent room there were three switches that controlled (in other words turned on and off the lamps) these lamps, how would you know what switch belonged to what lamp? Provided you were allowed to enter the adjacent room (room with the switches) once.

If you were conducting this interview what questions would you ask yourself?

If you were a fruit what fruit would you be and why?

This one wasn't even really a question; it was more like the interviewer needed clarification. I heard (not - is it true) that Nigerians use cooking stoves (keep in mind this certain person was referring to those little stoves that students *use* to carry to school from home. To those who took Home Economics or Food & Nutrition in high school like me; remember those little archaic stoves we use to have that could only prepare one dish at a time, lol) AND OOOO while preparing the food everyone else needed to vacate the house because the smoke coming from the stove could choke the residents and cause instant death?

Can I look in your purse?

Who do you prefer your mum or dad?

What smart-phone do you currently use and why?

Using a word, what makes you different from your counterparts?

BTW - CAN ANYONE GUESS THE ANSWER TO THE LAST QUESTION? I'LL SHARE THE ANSWER IN MY UPCOMING POST!

Had I known then what I know now I would respond to questions like the ones mentioned above by first suggesting to the interviewer politely, any of the following questions listed below:

"How do you think this information will enable me progress in this position? Why do you think it matters if I know this information? How will it help me be more successful on your team? And how do you know you've even got the right answer? …. Etc.

This is meant to serve as a decoy not with hopes that the interviewer will forget he asked the question; but allow you have those extra “crucial” seconds/minutes to quickly come up with a "somewhat meaningful" response to the question. I've learnt that giving yourself room to play out an answer in your head before blurting it out makes one heck of a difference. Those few seconds you use to process your thoughts and analyze your answer, will guarantee you a much better shot of responding to the already obtuse question with a less imprudent answer – which of course is another benchmark on whether you have a shot of getting the job or not. This is because, at the end of the day just like; eating, sleeping, drinking and those other inevitable things we do on a daily basis there's something these interviewers are trying to extract (although I hate to admit it – there is an underlying subtext they are trying to dig out from the gist of your response to the supposed “ridiculous question”). You know what, I should have named this post – “There's no such thing as a “silly question” :)

Being an international student is so difficult, so so difficult – it amazes me how tedious a simple problem can be once it’s being escalated to the wrong person. Travel visa, student visa, work visa – it’s this daunting cycle that has no destination. Instead, we as foreigners are given no option, cause “God Forbid” we even think of option 2 we can already envision glancing into the abyss of cynicism.

And…. What the hell is it with females these days and their negative attitude towards other females. (I’m not digressing, it in fact relates) Like actually being nice to a complete stranger (“someone whom you do not know”) is some kind of sin. I’m sick of the fact that we as females can’t seem to pull each other up after a fall. Talk about negative vibes and unpleasant attitude, like life is some competition between all women. Just the thought makes me want to scream – not to mention voicing it out, it makes me want to slap one silly (okay – not – literally) *maybe*. My inspiration starts from a certain unit, with a certain someone that likes to feel tall even though she’s the shortest in the room.

I know… I’m not even going to bother apologizing for my inane attitude towards the blog-world. Instead, like that bad boyfriend who cheats on his girlfriend without remorse, or that thief who steals a wallet at an airport and returns it saying “you have no cash just credit cards” and dashes, or that friend who abandons her fellow girlfriends because of her new guy-friend, or that guy on the metro that accidentally hits you but doesn’t apologize …. I’m going to MOVE ON … and say I’ve sure as hell missed blogging.

Welcome to the beginning of the end of the year. We as human beings will keep doing our “wrongs” till that clock hits midnight (12:00, 2011) with &hopes& that the baggage from last year has all washed away. Even in our wildest dreams – it hasn’t. Okay ^jokes^ but really where did this year go …. I remember this time last year l was preparing to depart this country and go back home – were things are a lot simpler than the average – in a way J. This year it’s SO MUCH better because I’m departing to see two love birds part the single lifestyle and unite as “one”. Yes, my lovely sister – whose character complements every trait a big sister should have – CONGRATULATIONS!

Work is unbelievably tedious, and when I’m actually free – all l want to do is SLEEP. Wake up and then SLEEP some more. Yes, extremely ridiculous. Gone are the days when l partied like a rock-star or like it was 1999, had a week for Thanksgiving, slept till noon – then went back to bed and slept till 3pm, lol (seriously), had a week for Spring Break, drove an hour away to my favorite store (God l miss that store). All l want to do these days, is just stay in the comfort of my place and s-l-e-e-p. Just the thought is scary – I’m growing into an old soul!

Oh FYI – Hope you smart readers out there are grasping my meandering technique in updating you on the “happenings” in my life :)

Okay… like l said a certain phone call about 30 minutes ago, inspired this – got to get back to work :)

It's been so long.. so so long...

I almost feel like I shouldn't be typing :) Well that's not going to happen. Just wanted to spread a little light in your week.

Some of us have had major successes in the past; some have experienced breakthroughs and windfalls. In the same vein, a few others may have experienced disappointments, hurts, pains and setbacks. Guess what? We all are here! We have all had a fair share of life.

Today, the successes, failures or disappointments are all in the PAST. A full stop at the end of any sentence indicates that the sentence has ended; it’s not going to be continued. God has put a full stop at the end of yesterday; it’s gone, never to be repeated. You have today right here and tomorrow ahead of you; perhaps within your control. The choices you make TODAY will determine the SUCCESS or FAILURE of your tomorrow. It’s right in your hands!

There is a process to our progress in life. Apostle Paul, in our text says the process of taking hold of the future starts by first forgetting the past. In his case he had successes in his immediate past after accepting Christ, but he reckoned that greater things lie ahead and declares with authority that one thing he does, is to delete the past from his memory; this enables him grab the greater things that lie ahead of him. You have not seen your best days yet. Your best is yet to come. This is the least you will ever achieve in life because greater things are ahead of you.

You may have made the wrong decisions in the past that makes you feel rejected and dejected; life may just have been unfair to you or people might have mistreated you. It’s in the past, leave it there, don’t carry it into your future; it’s not useful there. God has put a full stop to it. Take up your baggage and move on. There is a lot more in store for you ahead. You are more than this.

“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old, behold I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the dessert” Isaiah 43v18. God has put a full stop on your yesterday. A new sentence; a new page has been opened before you; write on it, you can make history. There are no limits in God. There is no failure in God. Your best is here!

No wonder more folks are dying from cancer than ever before. We wonder where this stuff comes from but here is an example that explains a lot of the cancer causing incidents. Many people are in their cars first thing in the morning and the last thing at night, 7 days a week. As I read this, it makes me feel guilty and ill. Please pass this on to as many people as possible. Guess it’s not too late to make some changes.

Please do NOT turn on A/C as soon as you enter the car.

Open the windows after you enter your car and turn ON the AC after a couple of minutes.

Here's why:

According to a research, the dashboard, sofa and air freshener emit Benzene, a cancer-causing toxin (carcinogen - take time to observe the smell of heated plastic in your car). In addition to causing cancer, Benzene poisons your bones, causes anemia and reduces white blood cells. Prolonged exposure will cause Leukemia, increasing the risk of cancer.

Can also cause miscarriage. .

Acceptable Benzene level indoors is 50 mg per sq. ft. A car parked indoors with windows closed will contain 400-800 mg of Benzene. If parked outdoors under the sun at a temperature above 60 degrees F, the Benzene level goes up to 2000-4000 mg, 40 times the acceptable level. People who get into the car, keeping windows closed will inevitably inhale, in quick succession, excessive amounts of the toxin. Benzene is a toxin that affects your kidney and liver. What's worse, it is extremely difficult for your body to expel this toxic stuff.

So friends, please open the windows and doors of your car and give time for the deadly interior air to clear out before you enter.

So my friends and l today at lunch were discussing how difficult life can be at times. Honestly, the way l see it, THIS LIFE IS LONG – all that talk about how short life is, is compete CRAP. Anyway, this friend of mine, Julia initiated the conversation by telling us that it took her a little over forty-five minutes to fall asleep last night. This was because she was extremely lost in thoughts about her life. Thoughts about school, life upon graduation, her thesis, family and friends, employment and the likes. I concluded from her conversation that she really didn’t have any worry. All her thoughts to me seemed so generic; especially for seth friends whom have wonderful choices. Choices to either continue with their academia or take a job offer, to me that seems like a graduation gift on its own. However, we human beings have a penchant need to create problems for ourselves. I wonder why we create troubles for ourselves by WORRYING. Someone once told me anger is the most useless emotion; then what is worry? Is it the second most useless emotion? Maybe that’s just the way life is supposed to be, maybe not? Maybe we have nothing better to think about, maybe not? Maybe we feel the need to look for ways to solve problems that are not there in order to keep our minds busy, maybe not? I could maybe all day, cause I’m not sure myself. However, one thing I’m sure of is prayer instead of worry.

Waking up today, the first thing l read sent by my sister was a very inspirational message that l thought it would be best to share:

Happy February Everyone! Wow….. it’s been a while. I’m going to save you all the stress to have to read my ever redundant apologies on not updating my blog. Abeg accept ohhh. I’ve decided to try something new, in reference to my blog of course. I’m going to create a post at least every week consecutively for three months. Yes, three months l need to pace myself! I’ll start of this post by welcoming you all to this wonderful New Year. I’m seeing so many changes in our society – of course we need to weigh in the good and bad. The motivation behind this post is my sister, whom has declared a great start to something new. As we approach this New Year, leave all your problems, misfortunes and mistakes behind for something so much better is here to come. According to the great Oogway: ‘Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the "present." A very good one, we humans are too concerned about what was and what will be. I’ve decided to let go of the illusion that l have total control over my destiny. Ok, before l begin counting down to a wonderful and well deserved Christmas break, I’ll try my best to blog as much as possible. We all know

is not a country were the supply of basic essentials like electricity is anywhere close to par.

So what is or are your New Year resolutions? I love my sister’s new slogan for 2010 - Faith that moves mountains! ...be still and know that I am God. I really love her attitude and sense of direction towards the New Year. Yesterday, l felt a sense of indescribable pleasure, a feeling which mirrored a past experience but nothing yet so perfect. Yup, l think l had an epiphany. Someone, not to close but not to far has become one with God! Let’s just say l felt like a miracle worker. It’s amazing how much you influence people, their decisions and the likes around you.

I don’t mind saying goodbye to 2009, from the start of the year the water (i.e me) was never settled. It was like l was searching for something l wasn’t even sure of. Constantly, searching like l lost a pair of brand new shoes l hadn’t worn. The water slowly coupled with painful experiences and great ones has come to rest. I’m beginning to see the reflection like I’m starring at a mirror. Ever noticed how disturbed water is so unclear, but once settled it becomes even almost transparent. Anywho…. I’m seriously looking forward to completing my e-proposal. Once, I’m done my break begins, l applaud those who work and go to school fulltime. You will definitely reap your blessings in abundance.

Moving on to something new… I heard this crazy story about a Dad who reportedly spanked his sophomore (usually age 13 and up) daughter in front of her class. Yup, nothing new in

Nigeria

, but this happened in NYC. Violence has never been promoted for as long as l remember, but people were hailing her Dad for a job well done. Apparently, this unfortunate teen was disrespectful to her teachers and disrupting the class. The teacher then sent the father an email reporting the girl, the father responded immediately and told him to let her know if she did it again. The story says that this rude teen was so disrespectful one particular day that the teacher just went over to his desk and emailed the father without any hesitation. Within 30 minutes the father shows up at her school, grabs the girl and literally drags her to the front of the class and spanks her repeatedly.. OMG.. WOW… I wonder if the girl will ever get over that unceremonious introduction to the world.. he he he.. I have a very close friend who teaches kids and l know they drive her crazy… I’m all for making sure a child never repeat the same mistake twice. Now, what’s the probability that girl will behave in such an ungodly manner again? Guess we all know the answer to that….

Another worrisome news l heard… About this random guy whom accidentally ran over two people at Prince’s George’s County located in Maryland. So, yes… how the heck do you run over two people. One and then another. So, the gist of it is that prior to his deathly journey he had drank one of those 5-hour energy drinks coupled with a cup (size not known) of coffee. Studies came back that, the combination badly affected his system and sense of reasoning. Terrible story..

Also, my prayers go out to the Italian Prime Minister (Silvio Berluscon) that was struck in the face at a rally by a small metal souvenir replica of the Dourno di Milano.

What a boring day at work. I think everyone is looking forward to eating Turkey on Thursday and shopping predominantly on Friday. Americans really need to drop their obsession with shopping, don’t they know we are in a recession. Who am l kidding it’s like I’ve sworn into consumerism, although l have my limits. I have never seen the excitement in Black Friday, where shoppers flood stores at ridiculously early hours to take advantage of time-sensitive sales and special discounts. For those who want to experience a hellish Black Friday. Here’s a tip:

“This year, 90 percent of electronics deals and 50 percent of clothing deals will be available from your home computer as of Nov. 27, and most sales will start at midnight,” according to the website blackfriday.fm.com and http://www.blackfriday.com/.

Nonetheless, I’m looking forward to Thursday and Friday not because of the Turkey, Sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie and Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Ok, I’m getting hungry! Or the insane sales in stores, but the fact that l don’t have to wake-up and drive for almost 1hr30mins to work. What a wonderful thing to look forward to, and I’m sure the guy sitting adjacent to me feels the same way. Men, does he look tired and stressed, I’m so sure he’ll be one of the first people to abscond early on Wednesday with hopes of sleeping in Thursday and Friday. Good days are definitely ahead.

Ok… So when l read this, l was in complete awe. Still am.

An engineering student was thought to have been in coma for 23 years but was actually conscious the whole time. Highly disturbing, but an interesting read.

Here’s another interesting read about an 8-year old Liberian girl who was shunned by her family after rape.

Ok, this l believe is the worst story. A Nigerian Girl killed her Mother. Olubukola Adefisayo 26yrs confessed to sledge-hammering (if that’s a word) her 62yr old mother. According to her recorded confession, she claimed her mother was a witch; her mother killed her sister, was sleeping with their houseboy and was high on cocaine. Also, she claimed to have confronted her mother and when her mother denied it, she grabbed a sledge hammer and continuously hit her until she passed out. That is just so…. Sick. The words that come to mind – MENTAL ILLNESS.

From what I’ve read her high school mates said she was a nice girl (what difference does that even make at the moment) whom had issues controlling her temper. She went to Oklahoma University, even scarier (to those who know me, know why). In America, she was a member of the choir at her church and some describe her as a very nice young… oh whatever… that doesn’t even matter… Some claim… and l write this with much satisfaction, finally some truth… that she slept around too much, had a boyfriend whom abused her and also had two children whom were taken away by child care services (Thank God). Yes… another shocker, or not …. Was that she was a suspect in a case of attempted murder while she was in the states. Imagine her bragging in this interview. Unbelievable. I feel so sorry for her family, but especially sorry for our poor legal system. What a lawless country!

On a lighter and final note, what do you all think about Oprah retiring from her Talk Show? Word on the street says Oprah will not be renewing her contract when it ends September 2011. They also stated that talk on a new cable channel with Discovery Communications called the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) is a possibility.

Even my deepest, dirtiest, darkest moments he’s still there by my side, telling me everything is going to be okay. A magnificent perpetual part of me yet l don’t appreciate him. He’s hurting and l need to be careful so he doesn’t leave.

He’s pain……

I’m driving along a bumpy road, and instead of letting him ride in the passenger seat by me l shut the doors. He’s knocking asking if he can ride with me but l say no. He loves me so much, that he holds on to the bumper of the car. As l drive we come across bumps and pot holes so he’s getting badly bruised. He’s hurting and crying but l keep on driving, the pain is becoming unbearable so he’s about to let go. Please Lord, don’t let go…. for l need you every second of the day. I’ll leave the doors wide open for you to come in anytime.

Lesson…

We never appreciate things until their gone, but then it’s too late. We ever so rarely sit back and thank him for all he has given us. Instead we worry about tomorrow a day that might not come, what a waste of time, energy and effort. No offense but I disagree with bf when he says “Life is not short”. Life is short… as a matter of fact it’s too short. We live everyday with great assurance of becoming the best we can be, not actually living but striving. I~~s that really what this life is all about, a constant struggle?~~ Sit back reflect, meditate or whatever and appreciate your surrounding. For 2010 is coming and some that celebrated 2009 with us unfortunately will not see 2010. We create problems for ourselves; something really simple suddenly becomes this massive complicated issue, so overwhelmingly bearing that the result is actually worthless. We should learn to PRAY ALWAYS!

Hello All,

My fellow bloggers and followers, I apologize for not being true to my word. Like I’ve written countless number of times, I’m suppose to update you all on the regular but for some reason/excuse or the other it happens ever so infrequently. You’re probably sick of hearing the same old apology after another, so I’m going to cut right to today’s post.

Has anyone heard of…? This appalling story of a man that sneezed and died…

Ok… So this is what really happened. This man dies after massive sneeze triggers brain hemorrhage and heart attack. Strange, huh.. It’s amazing, the unbelievable stories you hear these days. It’s more amazing that this is the first “death by sneezing” case e-v-e-r. Please, let me know if you’ve heard of something similar. This 79 year old retired design engineer, John Oram had a heart condition and suffered from diabetes. He also was taken Warfarin, a drug which thins the blood. The unfortunate incident happened July 16, 2009 were he was seen to have had a very violent sneeze. Medical records show that the violent sneeze combined with the Warfarin could have been the cause of his death. Also, the cause of the death was subdural hematoma (trauma of the brain) and coronary artery disease. Now, don’t be fooled and think that just because the man was old, coupled with artery disease and Warfarin that this story is not a shocker, because it is! Why? Medical records done with intense research shows that you’re probable to fall into harms way or death if you hold back a sneeze. ~~no matter what age you are~~ Yes, true and darn right scary. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

Monday morning (huge sigh), like the guy next door… I’m wishing its Friday morning instead. Today, I woke up with immense doubts in my mind about everything. Who do you trust 100%, I mean someone who you can share every and anything with? Excluding the persistent nagging, need I say annoying doubts in my mind - a friend revealed something to me? While running cruisecontrol, correcting errors on project cfb, which has somehow failed to corporate like the remaining 34 other projects I started chatting with my high school friend. He’s been seeing this girl, since like forever (he’s past the stage in his relationship were, when they see him they assume she’s with him. When she’s not with him or he’s not with her, noisy people are looking at them with askance thinking something bad has happened). The conversation started out when he asked me if I will be returning to commence NYSC soon? I’m assuming with excitement in his mind that his NYSC is approaching a fast paced end; he’s at the stage where he’s trying to convince me to get it over with. Then he suddenly started asking when he’ll be wearing my ashwebi, I’m like seriously dude I’m only 21. Just like me, I decided to twist the direction of our conversation to him… I assumed that if anything he would be the one heading in that direction first. After explaining how he wanted to be financially stable before dwelling into marriage and the likes. I then asked if she was who he wanted to be with (marriage-wise) or if he was still searching. To very little surprise he replied “can’t say”… I’m thinking what the heck does that mean… shouldn’t his reply have been yes definitely. Before I digress, I pursued a better response, then he said – “i wuldnt just see smethin else nd leave my gurl lyk dat. smethin has to happen to mke me leave my gurl” and “she's wife material, but u hv anyone for me?” Those were his exact words…

That got me thinking ohhh… After 3 years and there’s no assurance that the relationship is heading towards marriage, then I strongly believe you’re wasting time, effort and energy. Talk less about 4, 5, 6 years plus.. That’s suicidal.

Anyhoo.. has anyone seen Jamie Fox’s new movie “Law Abiding Citizen”, it’s really good, smart and full of excitement. It will definitely keep you on your toes. I also want to see "The Blind Side" and of course "New Moon"

So, I’m heading back to WORK (oh boy) - so i can head out on time ...

Someone shared the following cases:

1. Today I passed by a building which has an ATM machine. There was a man looking at me. Suddenly, he called me. He said he didn't know how to read, so he gave me his ATM card and asked me to help him withdraw money from the ATM machine. I answered 'NO!! If you need help, ask the security guard. Then he said 'never mind..' and continued to find other people to help him... REMEMBER: ATM machines have CCTVs. If you help him he will later claim that you have robbed him or stolen his ATM card. Besides, his ATM card could be a stolen one.

So please be careful of these tactics.

2. Suddenly your house lights go off. From your window you find that your neighbors still have lights. So you go out of your house to check the Meter Box. But once you open the door, a knife will be pointing at you and preventing you from closing it. This is when you will be robbed and injured.

REMEMBER: Even though your electricity suddenly goes off, DO NOT open the door immediately. Look around to see if there is anything unusual or if there is any noise around.

3. This is another incident. You may have heard it before, it is about a lady who she saw a kid crying by the roadside. When she spoke to the kid, the kid told her he was lost and wanted her to take him home and gave her a paper with his house address. So she took him home. But when she rang the door bell, she had an electric shock. Later when she woke up, she was naked in an empty room.

REMEMBER: Being such a compassionate and helpful person might not be a good thing these days. Pass this on and girls, please be careful.. DON'T BE TOO KIND!!

4. One day, there was an old lady outside my house holding 2 packets of sweets. At first I thought she was our neighbor and wanted to give us these packs of sweets as a gift. But then when she spoke, I realized that she was foreigner. I could not understand what she was talking about. I guessed she must be asking for money.I sensed there was something wrong and immediately closed the door and ignored her. Later, I found she and an accomplice robbed someone else down the road.

5. I was at the ATM machine to withdraw some money. Behind me, there was an old lady. She asked me whether I was able to withdraw my money because she said she had problem with her machine. Suddenly a small girl came up beside me. The small girl went in front of me. I thought she was just naughty and playful. But then, the small girl put her hand at the tray of the ATM machine where the money comes out, ready to take away my money. I sensed something was wrong and immediately pushed her away. Later I realized that the small girl and the old lady worked together. She was trying to steal my money while the old lady was trying to distract my attention by asking me questions! REMEMBER: BE VERY CAREFUL when you are at an ATM machine and be alert. Look out for anyone suspicious around you!

6. My parents are retired and stay at home most days. One afternoon, a young stranger went to their house and said his motorcycle had no more petrol and the petrol station was too far for him to push his bike there. So he asked my parents for an empty coke bottle to buy some petrol. He said he will pay P50 for the bottle. So my mum took one coke bottle for him. He really took out the money from his pocket, but it was a P1000 bill. He told my mum he had no small change and asked my mum to give him the change. Luckily my mum was smart. She just gave it for free. REMEMBER : obviously that bill is fake!! Who would want to pay for P50 for an empty coke bottle!! It's very OBVIOUS that that stranger is a trickster.

7.  This happened in Bali. A newly married couple were having their honeymoon at the hotel. When both are in the changing room, the wife suddenly went missing. The husband was very anxious and went around to find her. He asked the hotel staff to help him find her. Then he thought his wife was just playing hide and seek. So he went back and waited for his wife. After a few hours, he decided to call the police. 3 weeks passed and there was still no news about his missing wife. So he went back and was very disappointed and sad. A few years later, he came back to Bali , to watch a 'FREAK SHOW' in an old house. He saw a dirty and rusty metal cage. Inside there was a lady without limbs. Her body including the face was full of scars. When he had a closer look at her face, he was shocked to find that it was his missing wife put there as a means for begging.

8.  This happened in Shanghai . A few years ago, a lady reported to the police that her cousin sister was missing in the shopping complex. But after 5 years, one of her friends found her cousin sister begging at the road side on one of the streets in Bangkok , Thailand . The worst thing is that her cousin sister has no more limbs and her body was tied to a lamp post with a shackle (metal chain).

9.  Let's just shorten this story. DO NOT open your house door when you hear the sound of a BABY CRYING!! It might be a trap! Women in the house must be alert to this trick. The police said it is the work of a robber or murderer using the recording of a baby crying to attract your attention. This normally happens at night and when you are alone in the house.

10. I read an email that was sent by my friend. Her friend, known as A, went to Luo Hu Commercial City with 2 friends, B and C. Luo Hu Commercial City is the Shenzhen counterfeit goods distribution center. There are many people there. It's also near to the ShenZhen train station and Hong Kong 's Luo Hu Port. C went to the toilet at the shopping center while A and B waited outside. After waiting for a long, time they felt uneasy and went into the toilet to look for her. When they went in, there was nobody inside. Both were scared and they called C's phone. There was no reply. So they reported to the police. The police asked them whether they had seen anybody suspicious going into the toilet. Both said there were none and its impossible to bring a live person out of the toilet without them noticing!. Then A remembered seeing a cleaner pushing a trolley in, and then coming out. The police told them that was not the 1st time such a thing happened. The police suspected a gang of criminals who were always attacking women in the toilet of shopping complexes. They use cleaners to kidnap people to harvest their organs for sale.. REMEMBER: please be careful when using the toilet. Do not go to the wash room or toilet ALONE!! Please at least have a partner with you.

The lawyer uses his laptop and searches all references he could find on the Net.

He sends e-mails to all the smart friends he knows, all to no avail. After one hour of searching he finally gives up.

He wakes up the Nigerian and hands him $500. The Nigerian pockets the $500 and goes right back to sleep.

The lawyer is going nuts not knowing the answer. He wakes the Nigerian up and asks, 'Well, so what goes up a hill with three legs and comes down with four?'

Ok… so my birthday was FUN, actually it was exactly what I wanted thanks to bf and of course my little sis. It started out with a delectable meal, good drinks and a vivacious crowd. I will definitely update you before the week runs out on the series of events that took place last Saturday.

…. So I still can’t believe I got my first ticket on my birthday. Literally I didn’t get it “ON” my birthday; I noticed it on my birthday. Ok, so I was just looking through the mail I had picked up on Wednesday when I noticed a mail from DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles). I immediately started thinking… my car stickers, tags and what-not are all up-to-date so what could this be. Only for me to open the letter with askance and find out it was a ticket (failure to stop at a red light). I vividly remember that unfaithful day when friends from out of town came to visit, and of course we could not sit our behind at home so we decided to go out and party. The day is coming back to me like it was just yesterday; while driving down the streets of the capital in search of a lounge/club - of which I can’t even remember the name, confusion was at its peak. In the midst of listening to the deafening music, understanding the direction of the navigation system and convincing my friend to put down my phone and concentrate solely on one gps, this led me to a $150.00 ticket. Yes… a sad truth, the hilarious part is that apparently I had not responded to the ticket they allegedly sent me 30 days ago, so they doubled my fine. I refuse to taint my exceptional driving record, so before I completed the letter without any postponement I went online to pay the fine.

Yes… that’s what $150.00 could buy… darn the roads of DC!

Happy Belated Nigerians Independence Day :-)

Wow, this week went by so fast. It's an unfortunate twist of fate because the weekend will go by faster. Seriously, is it me or are there just not enough hours in the day? Maybe just maybe i'm not utilizing my time efficiently. Seriously "Yet another Friday" wow, that's about all I can say. I have been looking forward to Saturday for about 20 years (wow two whole decades) and now I feel like I don't want it come. Why? Because the closer it comes, the closer it is to being over. Well as they say all good things must come to end. It’s a sad truth.

So Nigeria is 49 and nothing has changed. Oh “no” “no” wait, we do have cinemas that play movies from last season, overpriced restaurants, extremely costly shopping centers, and expensive operas. Who needs the steady supply of primary human needs like electricity, water, security, shelter and food? What do we need all that for? hiissssss I’m going to leave the problems and prospects of my country for another day.

So, I’m trying and have been for the past few days to find a solution to this problem at work. How to create a loop to continue its build process on cruisecontrol upon an error? I do know that it requires a FailOnError plugin, which should be set to false but for some annoying reason it’s still not producing build results. So instead I tried a haltonFailure plugin, set it too false in the cobertura maven plugin and still nothing. Please, somebody let me know where my problem lies. I’ll really appreciate it.

Moving on to another subject! A couple of months back I downloaded over a dozen CD’s to my car, I got tired of looking for a particular CD while driving so I invested the time. It took me about a trip (1hr 10mins) from my workplace to my place to record about 10 CD’s. Yes, the thing is pretty fast… anyhow… I’ve had Asa’s CD for about 2 years and just came across her album as one of the CD’s I downloaded just yesterday. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve heard her songs play in the background … but never paid attention until yesterday. I’m in love with Jailer and Subway… yes my sister was telling me it’s old and all that. To me it’s the latest record, her melody is so unique – you won’t even know she’s a Nigerian. Who said we Africans don’t have talent when it comes to music. I absolutely love her songs, take a listen.

Take a look at this little girl speaking on behalf of the Environmental Children Organization (ECO). She silenced me for over 5 minutes; listen and process what she’s trying to communicate to us. I was in complete awe throughout her speech, how can one so young be so knowledgeable.

Her presentation reminds me of the movie “An Inconvenient Truth”. If you haven’t seen it, I’ll advise you go see it. A beautiful documentary by Al Gore, (The 45^th Vice President of the United States) a true environmental activist. A wise man once told me "um homen nunca chora quanto mais forte for a dor" meaning a man never cries no matter how painful it is..... I can no longer live by this code..... I've been trying to get my first love back for almost half a decade.... Mainly because I wasn't the best boyfriend I could be and I promise myself for as long as a breath I will make sure she has a positive opinion on life and guys. There is something about Pretty that makes me feel so important yet vulnerable, strong yet very emotional, almost girly at times. She brings out the punk in me. When I’m with her I can truly be ******* around others I am ****. I don't need to be cool to talk to her; whatever comes to mind seems essential.... In my opinion love needs an upgrade. As in a new definition because love is played out, this is deeper than that for me. Only God knows what my limit is as far as what I would do for this Angel of a person called “pretty”. What am I supposed to do if I lose her again for so long? One thing for sure is that I won't cry because she left, I will smile because she gave me the opportunity to be Number one and Three.

Of course, I was suppose to post this yday but bf distracted me. Enjoy.

Yes, Tuesday everyone at exactly 4:45pm I’m at work and I’m blogging. I just enjoy the idea that people can exchange thoughts, experiences, knowledge and what-not, all in the name of blogging.

I’m about to head out; I’ve so been craving Thai food. OMG. Their food is so good, especially the Thai cozy restaurant around my place – all I can say is AMAZING. Also, there’s another really good one near my workplace, wow… yes wow.. I took my Dad and sister there when they came to visit. I have spread the Thai obsession around, now that’s all they want. he he he.. I’ve been telling “you know who” to come around here so I can take him there.. Hopefully before the week runs out, he’ll get to experience a little Thailand here in **.

Ok, speaking of food… even though that has been the only thing on my mind. Yes I think I’m getting a wee-bit hungry. You know who, ok that is getting to long to type. So let me say bf, yup sounds better. Bf and I were up and about looking for a Thai restaurant on Sunday.

He claimed that he went to this Thai restaurant and the food was nasty. I sure as hell didn’t believe that, so we were up and about ** looking for one. The first one we went to had moved, I think.

The second one was so nice; it was a little cute place with delicious Thai food. BTW – You can never go wrong with their Thai fried rice, it comes with Shrimp, beef or chicken. You can go crazy like me and mix up a little beef and shrimp. I’m obsessed with beef, I can pass on chicken, and my fetish for shrimp comes and goes. Yes, beef and Shrimp is the absolute best… yes so so good. They also have this particular kind of spice that’s just to die for. Yes.. I know all this love for Thai food.. no not Thai food.. Food in general. lol

Anyway, did I mention my workplace is located in just the absolute best-and-worst area. Let’s begin with worst, worst in the sense that there’s a mall about 5 minutes from my office and a delightful shoe store… yes shoe store right across the campus of my office. Yeah, they call my workplace a campus because my office is huge. Proud to be a selected staff at ***. So I’m trying to discipline myself not to go there anymore, not the shoe store and definitely not the mall. I’ve succeeded this far because it has almost been 2 WHOLE WEEKS and I’ve been awol. However, that’s going to change cause d-day or should I say p-day is coming and I’ve got to spoil myself a little.. YES MY BIRTHDAY DAY. October 3^rd… Next Saturday.

Ok, so the best of course is that with all that exhausting shopping it’s coupled with a variety of restaurants. You know you have got to have food to replenish all that lost Energy, shopping. Of course like I mentioned the Thai restaurant, further down a couple of miles (approx. 5 -7 minutes) are an assortment of restaurants. My friend here at work and I plan to cover the entire chain before the year runs out. No matter what you’re in the mood for, they have it. Be it Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Bakery, Steak or a simple drive through. Yes, from a fast food restaurant like McDonalds to Cheesecake factory to Hibachi Style. You’ve got to love food.

Anyway the main reason for this post is to let you all know how my presentation went. You should know now it’s in my nature to divert from any and every selected topic. So finally after the long anticipated wait, I presented the finale today. SCARY but now I feel liberated. Like a heavy burden has been lifted of my chest.

It lasted for about an hour, ok let me be more precise and say 50 mins. WOW, if only I had known I would be bombarded with questions and comments. I basically discussed continuous integration (http://martinfowler.com/articles/continuousIntegration.html), a tool kit used for cruise control (http://cruisecontrol.sourceforge.net/). To all my techie’s you know what I’m talking about, to all those who don’t know get to reading, ok. Basically explaining the web server and plugins I developed to monitor all projects in my department. Let me not bore you all, I’m just glad its o-v-e-r.

Happy Read....

Last week was my 35th birthday and I didn't feel very well waking up on that morning.

I went downstairs for breakfast hoping my wife would be pleasant and say,

'Happy Birthday!' and possibly have a small present for me.

As it turned out, she barely said good morning, let alone

'Happy Birthday'

I thought...

Well, that's marriage for you, but the kids...

They will remember.

My kids came bounding down stairs to breakfast and didn't say a word.

So when I left for the office,

I felt pretty low and somewhat despondent.

As I walked into my office, my secretary Jane said,

'Good Morning Boss and by the way Happy Birthday! '

It felt a little better that at least someone had remembered.

I worked until one o'clock, when Jane knocked on my door and said,

'You know,

It's such a beautiful day outside, and it is your Birthday,

What do you say we go out to lunch, just you and me?'

I said,

'Thanks, Jane, that's the greatest thing I've heard all day.

Let's go!'

We went to lunch.

But we didn't go where we normally would go.

She chose instead to go to a quiet bistro with a private table.....

We had two martinis each and I enjoyed the meal tremendously.

On the way back to the office,

Jane said,

'You know, It's such a beautiful day...

We don't need to go straight back to the office, do we?'

I responded, 'I guess not.

What do you have in mind?'

She said, 'Let's drop by my apartment,

After arriving at her apartment,

Jane turned to me and said,

'Boss,

Ok, So I was supposed to post this last Friday, due to a much known circumstance I got distracted and I diverted from it. Yes… so typical of me. To multitask, procrastinate then start deliberating on other issues. So I’m going to mix up Friday’s post with today’s updates.

Here it goes….

It amazes me how much I've always loved Friday’s out of all the days in the week. This love didn’t just begin this year, last year… but it’s been such a long time that I've lost track when it actually started.

Why do I love Friday’s? Maybe it’s because it feels like it’s a normal week day, but with a little twist. Could it be because it’s the beginning of the weekend? Could it be because you can stay a little longer in bed Saturday morning? Could it be because you can divert from the usual routine, five-days-of-the-week? Could it be because you can stay up as late as you want on Friday night? Or maybe it’s Cool FM. Yes COOL FM.. he he he…OMG… 96.9 COOL FM (http://www.coolfm.us/) with Dan Foster. That name is stuck in my head like nothing else. I remember that radio station was crazy on Fridays… IT’S FRIDDDDAAAAAYYYY.. WOW.. I use to love to hear them shout it’s Friday. That radio station was crunk to its fullest. Just thinking about it, reminds me of chocolate royal. The “it” spot in 2003/2004, with their over priced, very high in cholesterol pastries and what not. Don’t get me wrong I use to rush those shege’s (goodies) like there was no tomorrow. Anyway let me get back on track.. Hhhhmmmm… whatever it is, this Friday felt very different.

Ok. So I've been feeling really sick these past few weeks. I couldn't go to work – yes it was that bad. It started abruptly last Saturday morning, and then escalated into something way beyond my power. I only went to work on Tuesday, and that was because I had an important presentation which ended up being moved to … next Tuesday (I'm assuming). So this entire week, I've practically been working from home.

So, when I woke up this morning it felt different. It felt like the just another day. So awkward for me because whether I’m in school, on holiday or at work. Friday is just that Friday you know, this Friday felt like Saturday or Thursday. No nothing, no difference just really weird. Anyway moving on from Friday to TODAY… yeeaaahhh..

So how your weekend? Fun/Boring/Exciting/Same-old-same-old? I had a blast..

It started of with proving you-know-who wrong about my cooking skills. Yes, imagine he thought I couldn't cook. He just had it in his mind that I’m an Ajebota or Bota (sissy/very girly), basically someone who doesn't like to get her hands dirty or her nails chipped. Let me just put it like that, for those who need further explanation.

Ok… let me divert a little, just a little.

My friend told me this, this past week when we went for happy hour, that the word Ajebota or Bota.. Comes from butter. Yeaahhh… as in, when you put butter in the microwave and you observe the way it melts so slow and whatever that’s where it comes from. Ok, so I didn't get it 100% or maybe I didn't hear it right but he seemed to be pretty darn sure while explaining it.

Anyway… moving on. So I cooked Jellof rice/plantain/fried goat meat and fried chicken. Yup.. a delicacy.. I just woke up that morning with all sorts of urges to get into my kitchen and cook. Yes, just like that it happens oh saw infrequently. lol. I hardly cook, but when I feel like it, it always turns out amazing. So around 6:30pm you-know-who came over with some other friends and couldn't believe I had cooked … as in the expression on his face made my mom’s constant “learn how to cook” sermon worth it. After much hesitation he decided to taste the meal… of course as I expected.. he couldn’t get enough… silly goose… Imagine ohhh… I was even distracted while cooking. Cause I was working, cooking and watching the Gilmore Girls.. Story of my life. Lol . Anyway yup.. I thought that was funny… Ajebota my a** I grew up with four girls and no guy.. How the heck won’t I be able to cook?

TOO MUCH DRINKING IS NOT GOOD… Take it from a professional… Let’s just say that’s all you need to know about my Saturday.

My little sister (aka small hommie) came home this weekend, stressed, tensed, agitated and every other word remotely similar in meaning… Anyway school will do that to you though… She’s studying Computer science and minoring in Business Administration. After studying all night Saturday and all morning Sunday, and I mean that literary. The babe was high on caffeine, motivation is key, Anyway she played this video for me.. Keep in mind this is an Honorable Chief, need I not say from my area. Very sad face… Enjoy.. I sure as hell did.. lol

It just hit me, my birthday is next week Friday.. OMG… Can’t wait…. I’ve been looking forward to this for 21 years now.. Even though at the moment I’m feeling older.. yup..older.. I feel like I’ve accomplished what it is I should have accomplished. Anyway happy bday to me in advance, baby… yeeeeeaaaahhhhh.

So that's how i feel right now. OMG - Thank God It's Friday. For some reason this has been the longest week ever. It shouldn't have been this way because, this past Monday was a holiday... Labor Day... For some reason it just felt like the longest week. Also, this elements of visual design course i'm taking isn't particularly helping. In the sense that i feel like there aren't enough hours in the day..

So my people all around the world.. how did you sleep? Good/Bad/Ok

He he he... After a stressful day i couldn't even fall asleep... After spitting out something to "you know who" - oh.. sorry you don't.. anyway we said our goodbye's and i started reflecting on my life. I try and live a life filled without regrets. After brainstorming like i was writing an exam, i came to the realization that i don't regret anything in my life. Don't get me wrong like every other person, I've made mistakes which i call experiences. However if i could re-do the past almost 21 years of my life again, i wouldn't change anything. Can you say the same? I'm not trying to make anyone feel bad.. just advising you to accept those things you know you can't change.

This reflection made me wonder what's my purpose in life? What am i here for? hmmm... What are you here for? Do you know?

My immediate elder sister relocated back home almost a year ago.. OMG.. We went from rivals to sisters to best friends.. I take majority of the blame when we couldn't stand eachother, cause was i a stubborn little sister or what? Ever since she left things have been different. The way i look at life, the way i react to things, just everything. It's amazing how much of an impact someone can have on you. Who in your life do you know that has made such a positive impact on you?

I'm so sorry to all whom have been following my blog, for not updating it in the past weeks. OMG.. I have been so pre-occupied with so much other stuff. I haven't even attended my kickboxing classes in almost 2 whole weeks.. Okay if someone hears that he's going to be upset. he he he..

Coupled with WORK... and i mean strenuous WORK, I've been a little ill. Maybe it's the flu. IDK (I don't know). I'm not completely back just yet but trust by next week i'll give you my undivided attention, 100%.

So for all those... peeps in the US (United States).. check out LA Boxing.. (http://www.laboxing.com/) They are a bit pricey but if your as fortunate as myself to run into a compromising trainer, he'll work with you. They have very good kickboxing classes. They strive.. no not strive.. their mantra is "Loose 1000 calories per class". If i wasn't so lazy l assure you that ... never mind.. I was dedicated the first few weeks and then... suddenly my mojo decreased..

OK.. so summer is over.. as in officially over... but not for me. I still feel like it's still running.WHY? Too much fun, or too little fun? At my workplace.... we adhere to summer hours, every Friday from noon you can just up and leave.. cool right.. it helps when you have an awesome boss.. he he he... Actually being a software engineer is not as boring as i thought. Although i program, de-bug, research, attend numerous meetings, etc. There's something cool about just doing what you like to do in a relaxed environment.. yup...

I wonder how many people in this tough economy actually like their job, talk less about love??? hMMMmmmm... Let me know..

Any plans for the weekend you all?? For me... i'll be working on an assignment, hanging out with YKW (you know who).. OK no you don't :) and preparing for the GRE. Yes, I'm planning to take the GRE; so i can apply for my PhD and commence immediately after the completion of my MSc next Spring.. SO i have to hit those books hard... Oh yeah also.. Intercontinental Bank – N210.9 billion

Afribank – N141.86 billion

Union Bank – N73.58 billion

Finbank – N42.45 billion

You see I ask myself, what the heck where their auditors results?

The big players; PriceWaterHouseCoopers (PWC) auditors of Intercontinental Bank and Oceanic Bank and Akintola Deloitte (AD) auditors of Afribank, Union Bank and Finbank.

Aren’t these results in short supposed to reflect in detail the accuracy in information? The positive enhancements along with the company’s action plans for improvements? Also, aren’t these final audit reports suppose to be distributed to senior management? Obviously, there is a deeper underlying purpose, which is now being assessed by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Ooopps. Maybe we are not as smart as we thought?

EFCC has detained Okey Nwosu, Sebastian Adigwe and Barth Ebong amongst others on grounds of suspicion of various misdemeanors, including insider trading and fraud. Also, the State Security Services (SSS) stopped Mrs. Cecilia Ibru from traveling out of the country yesterday in her private jet.

With hope and disappointment in our minds last Friday to address this serious liquidity problem a sum of $420 billion was injected to these banks.

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things , but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
